Abigail Gadea, MSW, MPP, LISW, is a Research Implementation Specialist and Deputy Director at the University of Minnesota Healthy Youth Development-Prevention Research Center (HYD-PRC). As part of her role at the HYD-PRC she has worked as a relational coach and trainer supporting middle school teachers in building stronger relationships in the classroom which led her to co-develop the Whole Learners© Program. She has completed an Advanced Equity and Diversity Leadership Certificate, and Co-Active Coaching and Coaching for Equity trainings. Gadea thrives in providing specialized training, technical and capacity building assistance to organizations equipping adolescents with the necessary skills and opportunities to live healthy and meaningful lives. Gadea works closely with the HYD-PRC Director of Sexual Health Training & Education facilitating trainings to community partners who are preparing to implement evidence-based youth sexuality education programs to prevent teen pregnancy and HIV/STIs. She is also the social work faculty and supervisor for the Interdisciplinary Fellowship Training, Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) housed in the UMN Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health. She has direct experience working with under-represented communities in Minnesota since 2008. She also serves as a board member for two Minneapolis nonprofit organizations supporting refugees and immigrants.
